Challenges

The challenges with completing this system migration include:

• There is no automated way to transfer the configuration.
• Many variations of the operating system (OS) and database (DB) systems are possible.
• PME can be installed as a standalone or distributed system.
• The upgrademigration can be time consuming.
• Many configuration items and settings need to be upgradedmigrated.

This document addresses these challenges and provides the necessary information and procedures to plan and execute the migration successfully. However, each migration in the field provides new challenges and risks that need to be assessed and managed.

Areas not discussed in this document include integration with third party systems. Make sure you understand the application environment in which the PME system exists so you can include this in your migration plan.
